Ingredients – Masala
- तेल / Oil – 1 tbsp
- मिरची / Green Chili – 2
- अदरक / Ginger – 1 inch
- लसुन / लेहसुन / Garlic – 4-5 cloves
- कांदा / प्याज / Onion – 1 chopped
- टमाटर / Tomato cut – 4 small
- Mushroom 250 gms
Making Masala
- Take a pan, heat on medium
- Add oil
- Once oil is hot add chili, ginger, garlic sauce for 1-2 min
- Add onion, sauté till onion is soft
- Add tomato, cover and cook till tomato is soft, turn off heat and let it cool down
- Once cooled grind to fine puree
Ingredients – Matar Mushroom
- Mushroom – 250 gms
- मटर / Green peas – 1.5 cup
- तेल / Oil – 1 tbsp
- तमालपत्र/ तेज़पत्ता / Bayleaf – 1
- मोटी इलायची / Black Cardamom – 1
- दालचीनी / Cinnamon – 1/2 inch
- जीर / जीरा / Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
- तिखट / लाल मिर्च / Chili powder- 2 tsp
- मीठ / नमक / Salt – as per taste
- गरम मसाला / Garam Masala – 1 tsp
- धने/ धनिया / Coriander powder- 1 tsp
- दही / Curd – 1/4 cup
- Water – 1/2 cup
- साखर / शक्कर / Sugar – 1 tsp
Making Marat Mushroom
- Clean mushrooms throughly, wash all dirt, then chop in med sizes pieces
- If using frozen peas, de-freeze them by adding in water
- Now heat oil in pot on medium
- Add bayleaf, black cardamom, cinnamon, cumin seeds sauté for about 1 min, until aromatic
- Add masala puree prepared earlier, mix well and sauté for 1-2 min
- Add chili powder, mix well
- Add salt, sugar and Garam Masala and coriander powder, mix well, cover and cook for 1-2 min
- Add water, mix well, cover and cook for 2 more min
- Add mushroom, and green peas, mix well, cover and cook for 2 min or until desired softness to mushroom and peas
- Tasty Matar Mushroom is ready
Tips
- Make fine masala puree to get thick creamy texture for the gravy
- Adjust water to get desired gravy consistency
- Fresh / Frozen green peas works well for this dish
- If using fresh peas first cook it in gravy for 5 min and then add mushrooms
