Ingredients – Sesame Chikki / bar
- तीळ / तील / Sesame seeds – 1 cup
- शेंगदाने / मूंगफल्ली / Peanuts – 1/2 cup
- गुड़ / Jaggery – 1 cup
- तूप / घी / Ghee – 1 tbsp
Preparing – Sesame Chikki
- Roast sesame in pan on low, roast till seeds puffs a little
- Let is cool down, grind to powder and set aside
- Roast peanuts in a pan till crunchy, let it cool down
- Once cooled grind to powder
- Mix Sesame and peanuts powder well, break any lumps that my form during grinding
- Heat pan on med, add jaggery, add 1/4 cup water, mix well
- Cook jaggery till you get single string consistency
- Add sesame and peanuts powder to jaggery, mix well, turn off heat
- Now transfer mix over parchment paper, cover with another layer of parchment paper
- Roll it evenly to thin layer about 1/2 cm
- Sprinkle roasted sesame on top, cover with parchment paper again, roll lightly
- Cut in desired shape
- Yummy Sesame Katli is ready!
Tips
- Roll and cut chikkis while it is still hot
- Use plate instead of parchment paper, just grease with ghee before use
- Avoid overcooking jaggery for best results
- Roast peanuts till crunchy for best taste
