Ingredients – Sesame Chikki / bar

  • तीळ / तील / Sesame seeds – 1 cup
  • गुड़ / Jaggery – 1 cup
  • तूप / घी / Ghee – 1 tbsp

Preparing – Sesame Chikki

  1. Roast sesame in am pan on low, roast till seeds puffs a little, turn of heat and let it cool down
  2. Heat pan on medium, add jaggery, cook till jaggery melts
  3. Add ghee, mix well
  4. Add roasted sesame, mix well, turn off heat
  5. Transfer mix over a parchment paper, or if using plate grease it with ghee
  6. Roll evenly to get about 1cm thick layer
  7. cut in desired size pieces, let it cool down
  8. Healthy Sesame (तीळ-गुड़) Chikki is ready!


  1. Roll and cut chikkis while it is still hot
  2. Use plate instead of parchment paper, just grease with ghee before use
  3. Avoid overcooking jaggery for best results

How to serve

  1. Makes 15-20 chikkis
  2. Famous Sankranti snack
