Ingredients Marination
- पापलेट/ Pomfret / Golden Pompano- 1
- तिखट / लाल मिर्च / Chili powder – 1tsp
- मीठ / नमक / Salt – as per taste
- लिंबू / नींबू / Lime juice – 1/4 tsp
Instructions – Marination
- Take whole pomfret fish, remove tails, fin and scales
- Wash fish and wipe extra water with cloth
- Make incisions/cuts on both side of clean fish and keep it side
- take bowl add red chili powder, salt, lemon juice mix well
- Apply this mix allover to fish on both side and inside as well
- Keep marinated fish for 10 min, lets make second marination
Ingredients Tandoori Masala
- Rosted बेसन / Gram flour – 2 tbsp
- गरम मसाला / Garam Masala – 1/2 tsp
- धने / धनिया / Coriander powder – 1 tsp
- जीरेपूड / जीरा / Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp
- अदरक / Ginger powder – 1/4 tsp
- चाट मसाला / Chaat Masala – 1/2 tsp
- बडीशेप / सौंफ/ Fennel seed powder-1/4 tsp
- कसूरी मेथी / Kasoori Methi – 1 tsp
- तिखट / लाल मिर्च / Chili powder – 1 tsp
- कश्मिरी मिर्च / Kashmiri Chili powder – 1 tsp
- ओवा / अजवाइन / Ajwain – 1/4 tsp
- लसुन / लेहसुन / Garlic paste – 1 tsp
- लिंबू / नींबू / Lime juice – 1/2 tsp
- दही / Curd – 3 tbsp
- मीठ / नमक / Salt – as per taste
- कोथंबीर/ धनिया पत्ता/ Coriander chopped
Instructions – Baking Fish
- Take bowl add besan, garam masala, coriander powder, cumin powder, ginger powder, chat masala, fennel powder, kasoori methi, Chili powder, Kashmiri chili powder, ajwain/carrom seeds, garlic paste, lemon juice, curd, salt and coriander leaves, mix well. use little water if mix is too thick
- Apply this masala allover the fish
- Keep it aside for 10 min
- After 10 min, put metal rack on stove on medium heat
- Bake fish directly on medium flame until black spots appear
- Turn and repeat same on other side
- Now to cook fish inside, place fish in pan and cook on low for 4-5 min, press lightly with spatula if needed
- Turn over and and cook for another 4-5 min, press gently
- Tasty, healthy, Zero oil Tandoori Fish is ready!
Tips
- Marination with lemon juice helps reduce fish smell
- Turmeric can also be used for marination
- Oven bake fish for 15-10 min on °356 F / °180 C, flip fish half way through
- Fresh fish taste best for this recipe
