Ingredients Ladoo

  • बेसन / Gram flour – 2 cups
  • मीठ / नमक / Salt – 1/4 tsp
  • साखर / शक्कर / Sugar – 2 cups
  • इलायची / Cardamom powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Food Color Kesar -1 drop (optional)
  • तूप / घी / Ghee – 1/4 cup
  • Crushed mixed nuts – 1/4 cup

Preparation Ladoo

  1. Take mixing bowl, add gram flour, salt, mix well
  2. Use little water at a time to make dough, cover and set aside for 15 min
  3. After 15 min, divide dough in 4-5 equal pieces
  4. Roll one portion flat like chapati, bake the chapati on low from both sides, make sure not to over bake
  5. Repeat for all the chapati
  6. Let the besan chapati cool down completely, break in to small pieces
  7. Grind besan chapati in coarse powder, seive to remove large pieces, you can grind large pieces again and sieve
  8. Heat pan on low, add sugar, water, mix well till sugar dissolves
  9. Cook till sugar syrup reduces to single string consistency
  10. Now add cardamom powder, mix well
  11. Add powdered besan chapati to the sugar syrup, mix well, cook for 1-2 min
  12. Add ghee, mix well and turn off heat. let it cool down
  13. Add a little ghee in a pan, add crushed nuts to the pan, roast till light golden, now add roasted nuts to the ladoo base and mix well
  14. Take lemon size portion, roll in palms to make it round
  15. Yummy Besan churma ladoo is ready!

Tips

  1. Makes 15 ladoos
  2. To avoid black spots on besan chapati, bake it on low-med heat
  3. After cooling if the mixture is stiff, microwave for 30 sec, rub and make ladoos
  4. Traditionally besan poories are fried, but baking is an alternative shown in this recipe

How to serve

  1. Serve fresh
  2. Garnish with pista nuts
