Ingredients Ladoo
- बेसन / Gram flour – 2 cups
- मीठ / नमक / Salt – 1/4 tsp
- साखर / शक्कर / Sugar – 2 cups
- इलायची / Cardamom powder – 1/2 tsp
- Food Color Kesar -1 drop (optional)
- तूप / घी / Ghee – 1/4 cup
- Crushed mixed nuts – 1/4 cup
Preparation Ladoo
- Take mixing bowl, add gram flour, salt, mix well
- Use little water at a time to make dough, cover and set aside for 15 min
- After 15 min, divide dough in 4-5 equal pieces
- Roll one portion flat like chapati, bake the chapati on low from both sides, make sure not to over bake
- Repeat for all the chapati
- Let the besan chapati cool down completely, break in to small pieces
- Grind besan chapati in coarse powder, seive to remove large pieces, you can grind large pieces again and sieve
- Heat pan on low, add sugar, water, mix well till sugar dissolves
- Cook till sugar syrup reduces to single string consistency
- Now add cardamom powder, mix well
- Add powdered besan chapati to the sugar syrup, mix well, cook for 1-2 min
- Add ghee, mix well and turn off heat. let it cool down
- Add a little ghee in a pan, add crushed nuts to the pan, roast till light golden, now add roasted nuts to the ladoo base and mix well
- Take lemon size portion, roll in palms to make it round
- Yummy Besan churma ladoo is ready!
Tips
- Makes 15 ladoos
- To avoid black spots on besan chapati, bake it on low-med heat
- After cooling if the mixture is stiff, microwave for 30 sec, rub and make ladoos
- Traditionally besan poories are fried, but baking is an alternative shown in this recipe
