Ingredients – Bhadang / Murmure chivda

  • मुरमुरे / मामरा / Puffed Rice – 250 gm
  • तेल / Oil – 5 tbsp
  • मोहरी / राई / Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
  • शेंगदाने / मूंगफल्ली / Peanuts – 1/2 cup
  • लसुन/लेहसुन/ Garlic sliced – 2-3 cloves
  • मिरची / Non spicy green Chili – 4-5
  • कढीपत्ता / Curry leaves – 1/4 cup
  • डाळ्या / Daria split – 1/4 cup
  • तिखट / लाल मिर्च / Chili powder – 3 tsp
  • हळद / हल्दी / Turmeric – 1/2 tsp
  • मीठ / नमक / Salt – as per taste
  • जीरेपूड / जीरा / Cumin powder – 1 tsp
  • साखर / शक्कर / Sugar – 1/2 tbsp

Making Bhadang / Murmure chivda

  1. Clean puffed rice to remove small pieces, sieve small quantity at a time
  2. Keep puffed rice in sunlight to make them extra crispy or microwave them for 20 sec at time until get nice crispy
  3. Heat oil for seasoning on medium
  4. Add mustard seeds let the mustard seeds splutter, add peanuts, fry till crispy on low
  5. Add garlic, green chili, curry leaves roast till crunchy on low heat
  6. Add Daria/dalya roast for 1 min, turn off heat
  7. Add red chili, turmeric, sugar, cumin powder, mix well
  8. Now pour this seasoning mix on puffed rice, mix everything together, toss gently moving from bottom to top
  9. Toss till all puffed rice gets seasoning coat.
  10. Crispy, spicy Bhadang is ready!

Tips

  1. Keeping in sunlight for 2 hours is alternative to microwave, for extra crispness
  2. Roast all seasoning ingredients to crisp for perfect crunchy Bhadang
  3. Adjust spiciness to your liking
  4. Store in airtight container for prolonged crispness and freshness

How to serve

  1. Serve fresh
  2. Serve as tea time snack
  3. Mix with fine cut tomato, onion, sev, and top with lemon juice to make perfect snack dish
