Ingredients – Desi Onion Pakoda

  • कांदा / प्याज / Onion – 2
  • कोथंबीर / धनिया / Coriander – 1/2 cup
  • मिरची / Green Chili chopped -1 tbsp
  • हळद / हल्दी / Turmeric – 1/4 tsp
  • ओवा/ अजवायन/ Carom seeds -1/2 tsp
  • मीठ / नमक / Salt – as per taste
  • तिखट / लाल मिर्च/ Chili powder-1/4 tsp
  • तांदूळ पीठ / चावल आटा/ Rice flour- 1 tbsp
  • बेसन / Gram flour – 1/2 cup

Making – Desi Onion Pakoda

  1. Cut onion in middle make two parts, slice each part in thin slices
  2. Take mixing bowl add onion slices, separate all slices
  3. Add finely chopped coriander leaves, green chili, turmeric powder, carom seeds, salt, red chili powder, and rice flower, mix everything together
  4. Now add little bean at time just enough to get binding to onion
  5. Heat oil in Kadhai/frying pan for frying, on medium heat
  6. Now add teaspoon of hot oil in pakoda mixture, mix well
  7. Drop small small mixture in to oil for frying, fry till golden
  8. Crispy onion Pakoda are ready
  9. Serve hot with mint chutney or Ketchup sweet chutney

Ingredients – Videsi Onion Rings

  • कांदा / प्याज / Onion – 1 large
  • मैदा / Maida flour – 3/4 cup
  • Corn starch – 1/4 cup
  • मीरे पूड/ काली मिर्च/ Pepper powder – 1/2 tsp
  • तिखट / लाल मिर्च/ Chili powder-1/2 tsp
  • बेिकंग सोडा / Baking Soda – a pinch
  • मीठ / नमक / Salt – as per taste

Making – Videsi Onion Rings

  1. Slice onion in medium thick rounds
  2. Separate each onion ring, discard small rings
  3. Take a mixing bowl, add maida, corn starch, pepper powder, pepper powder, chili powder, baking soda and salt to taste, mix it well
  4. Add little water at a time to make pouring consistency batter
  5. Take Panko bread crumbs in a bowl
  6. Now dip each onion ring in batter first and coat with bread crumbs, prepare all rings with same method
  7. Heat oil on medium, fry coated onion rings till golden
  8. Crispy onion rings are ready! Serve with Chili sauce, Ketchup

Tips

  1. Adjust besan quantity just enough to bind onion, no need to add water
  2. For best results fry pakodas as soon as batter is ready
  3. Adding hot oil gives nice crispyness to pakodas
  4. For onion ring cut medium thick slices
  5. Separate rings carefully to avoid breaking

How to serve

  1. Serve hot with ketchup, chili sauce
