Ingredients – Shrimp Marination
- कोळंबी / Prawns / Shrimps – 10-12 cleaned
- मीठ / नमक / Salt – 1 tsp
- हळद / हल्दी / Turmeric – 1/2 tsp
- तिखट / लाल मिर्च / Chili powder – 1 tsp
- लिंबू / नींबू / Lime juice – 1 tsp
Shrimp Marination
- Take a mixing bowl, add shell removed and cleaned Shrimps
- Add salt, turmeric, chili powder, lemon juice, mix well and rub the spices on shrimps
- Cover and set aside for 10-15 min
Ingredients – Masala
- कांदा / प्याज / Onion – 1 chopped
- अदरक / Ginger – 1 inch
- लसुन / लेहसुन / Garlic – 5-6 cloves
- खोब्र / नािरयल / Coconut grated – 1/4 cup
- काजू / Cashew – 5-6
- टमाटर / Tomato – 1 small
- गरम मसाला / Garam Masala – 1/2 tsp
- धने / धिनया / Coriander powder – 1 tsp
- तिखट / लाल मिर्च /Chili powder – 1.5 tsp
- कोथंबीर / धिनया पत्ता / Coriander
Making Masala
- Grind Onion, ginger, garlic, coconut, cashew, tomato together make fine puree
- Add Garam Masala, coriander powder, chili powder, coriander leaves to the paste and grind again to fine paste
- Set aside
Ingredients – Curry
- तेल / Oil – 3 tbsp
- Masala prepared earlier
- Marinated shrimps prepares earlier
- मीठ / नमक / Salt – 1 tsp
- कोथंबीर / धिनया पत्ता / Coriander
Making Curry
- Heat deep pot on medium heat
- Add oil, once oil heats add grind masala, roast it till oil separates and masala is cooked, make sure masala will not burn at the bottom.
- Add marinated shrimps to the pot, mix well, add little water to help mix it well
- Add another 2 cup water to the pot, mix well, simmer for 2 min
- Cover the pot and cook for another 7-8 min
- Shrimp Curry is ready! Garnish with Coriander
Tips
- Marinating shrimps with turmeric helps reduce strong seafood smell
- Make fine masala paste for smoother gravy
- Fry masala paste till oil separates, this is important step to get nice flavors
- Add water to adjust gravy consistency to your liking
- Curled shrimps indicates that it is cooked
