Ingredients – Dal vada
- उडीद डाळ / उरड डाल / Black gram – 1 cup
- तिखट मिरची / Thai green Chili (spicy) – 7-8
- लसुन / लेहसुन / Garlic – 7-8 cloves
- अदरक / Ginger – 1 inch
- जीर / जीरा / Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
- कोथंबीर / धनिया पत्ता / Coriander
- मीठ / नमक / Salt – as per taste tsp
- हळद / हल्दी / Turmeric – 1/4 tsp
- बेकिंग सोडा / Baking Soda -1/4 tsp
- तेल / Oil – for frying
Making – Dal vada
- Wash and soak black gram lentil/urad dal for 5-6 hours
- Take mixing jar add soaked dal, green chili, garlic, ginger, cumin and grind to coarse paste, grind it without water. We need thick paste of dal
- Remove dal paste in mixing bowl, add salt, turmeric, baking soda and fine chopped coriander leaves, mix everything together by beating mixture with hand
- In deep pan heat oil for frying on medium heat
- Wet your palms with water, take lemon size paste make round of paste in palms, now press that round flat make hole in vada


- Remove vada carefully from palm and add to oil pan for frying, use little water to avoid sticking
- Fry on both sides until golden, Dal vada is ready !
- Repeat for remaining Vadas
How to serve
- Serve hot!
- Serve with Kadhi or tempered Dahi
Tips
- Remove all water from soaked dal before grinding for thick dal paste
- Grind to medium coarse paste for crispy vadas
- If making vada on palms is difficult, cover your palm with plastic sheet/ bag
- if using dal with skin, remove skin after soaking by rubbing the dal in you palms
