Ingredients
- इडली तांदूळ / इडली चावल / Idli Rice – 3 cup
- उळीद डाळ / उरद डाल / Black Gram (Urad Dal)-1 cup
- मीठ / नमक / Salt – per taste
Making
- Wash and clean rice, then soak it for 5-6 hours
- Wash and clean black gram (urad dal), then soak for 5-6 hours
- Strain soaked dal and grind to fine paste, use little water to help with grinding
- Strain soaked rice and grind to fine paste, use little water to help with grinding
- Now mix both grind paste well
- Add salt, mix well
- Cover and let it ferment overnight, the batter would rise, become light and fluffy
- Now prepare idli cooker
- Grease idli mold, add little batter in each mold
- Stream idli for 12 min
- Let it cool down for 2 min and demold idli
- Idli is ready to serve
Tips
- If you don’t have idli rice, you can use any short grain rice
- Smooth grinded batter makes fluffy and light idli
- Keep batter in warm place to get nice fermentation
- Serve with sambar, coconut chutney
