Ingredients – Desi Onion Pakoda
- बटाटा / आलू / Potato (boiled) – 2
- बटर / Butter – 1 tbsp
- अदरक / Ginger – 1 tsp
- Chili flakes – 1/2 tsp
- Water – 1/2 cup
- मीठ / नमक / Salt – as per taste
- मीरे पूड / काली िमर्च / Black peppers – 1/4 tsp
- बारीक रवा / सूजी / Fine Sooji – 1/2 cup
- कोथंबीर / धिनया पत्ता / Coriander- 2 tbsp
- Corn starch – 2 tbsp
- Oil for frying
Making – Desi Onion Pakoda
- Take boiled potatoes, peel and mash them
- Heat a pan, add butter, let it melt
- Add ginger, saute for 30 sec
- Add chili flakes, saute for 30 sec
- Add water, mix well
- Add salt, mix well
- add black pepper powder, mix well
- Add sooji, mix well, break all lumps and turn off heat
- Add coriander, mix well
- Transfer batter in a bowl and let it cool down completely
- Add corn starch, knead a smooth dough,
- Now take a handful portion, roll it flat
- Using cookie cutter cut in sound shape, now using smaller cookie cutter, carve out inner circle. you would get a potato ring ready to fry
- Now on inner circle, carve out smiley faces using straws for eyes and spoon for mouth.
- Oven bake potato rings for 10-12 min on 350 F / 180 C
- Alternatively fry in medium heated oil, turn occasionally to get nice golden color on both sides.
- Crispy potato snacks are ready!
Tips
- Using fine sooji is important
- If using coarse sooji, grind it in mixer before using
- Fry on medium heat to get perfect cook from inside
- Air frying is an heathier alternative
