Ingredients
- खवा / खोया / Mawa – 4 cups
- तूप / घी / Ghee – 3 tbsp
- दूध / Milk – 1/4 cup
- जायफळ / Nutmeg powder – pinch
- इलायची/ Cardamom crushed -1/4 tsp
Cooking Mawa
- Grate Mawa
- Add grated Mawa to pan, cook on low medium heat
- Add 1 tbsp ghee when Mawa melts and mix well, cook for 2-3 minutes then again add one tbsp ghee, after little cooking repeat the same procedure
- Cook Mawa on low heat till it turns golden brown, It takes around 25-30 minutes. This step is time consuming but if heat is high we won’t get desire result and mawa will burn at bottom.
- Once cooked, let the Mawa cool down to room temperature
Making Peda
- Once mawa is cooled, Grind Mawa to fine powder
- Add fine powdered sugar and mix well, make sure sugar is fine and smooth in texture
- Add nutmeg powder, or grate little nutmeg directly in to the mawa
- Add Cardamom powder and mix well
- Add little milk about 1-2 tbsp to the mixture and mix well, this will help get the mixture binding consistency
- Take small portion of mixture in your palms, gently press and roll in to shape of peda

Tips
- Stir contineously to avoid burning at bottom
- It takes about 25-30 min to get that perfect golden brown color of Mawa
- Use finely powdered sugar, you could sieve the powdered sugar if necessary
